Keep a checklist of things to do before you leave home. Your own list may include such chores as turning down your thermostat or giving a key to a neighbour.

èeck trail conditions with the local management organizations or park office
?sure you have the appropriate papers such as permits and parking stickers
?ke two copies of your itinerary. Leave one in your car, and one with a friend.
